چکیده

Introduction. In neonatology, various illness severity scores have been developed to predict mortality and morbidity risk in neonates. The aim of our study was to validate the ability of the ‘Clinical Risk Index for Babies’ (CRIB) II score to predict mortality in neonates born before 32 weeks’ gestation in a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), setting. Materials and Methods. Prospective birth cohort study including all liveborn neonates of 32 weeks’ gestation or less. . CRIB II score was calculated and the predicted mortality was compared with the observed mortality. Discrimination (the ability of the score to correctly predict survival or death) was assessed by calculating the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curve) and its associated area under the curve (AUC). Prediction Value of CRIB-II in Outcome of Preterm and Low Birth Weight Infants: a Prospective Cohort Study

Background: One of the most common methods of identifying mortality risk is the Clinical Risk Index for Babies scoring system (CRIB- II). The aim of this study was assessing the value of CRIB- II in predicting mortality risk in preterm and low birth weight infants in East Azerbaijan- Iran. Materials and Methods: This prospective cohort study was carried out in 2013-2014 during 6 months in NICUs...

بررسی ارزش سیستم نمره دهی CRIB II در پیش بینی مرگ نوزادان نارس

Background: The survival rate of premature newborns depends on gestational age, birth weight and condition when they are hospitalized. Different scoring systems to predict mortality in newborns has been designed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate value of CRIB II scoring system in predicting mortality rate of infants with birth weights less than 1500 grams. Material and Methods: In this...

Assessing mortality risk in very low birth weight infants.

INTRODUCTION Preterm birth is the most important univariant risk factor of neonatal mortality. Assessment of risk factors affecting mortality in preterm infants with very low birth weight is important for the treatment of this highly vulnerable population. OBJECTIVE Detection of risk factors for neonatal mortality in very low birth weight premature infants. METHODS The current study was con...

Clinical risk index for babies (CRIB) II score as a predictor of neonatal mortality among low birth weight babies at Kenyatta National Hospital.

BACKGROUND Neonatal deaths, especially among the Low Birth Weight (LBW) babies, are of major concern in the Newborn Unit (NBU) of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). Several instruments have been developed to predict initial mortality risk among the LBW babies. Among them is the scoring system Clinical Risk Index for Babies also known as CRIB II score. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the use of CRIB II s...
